Editor’s Questions:
General:
Q: Do you cater to cash-only physician practices?
A: Payment for professional services is either via credit card or insurance coverage, with any co-pays paid for by the patient entered credit card info.
Q: What makes your product different from all the other EMR/PM systems on the market?
A: Difficult to make a blanket comparison; interested parties who have seen the platform appreciate its simplicity of use. We have also partnered with leaders in online EMR and e-prescribing modules to provide high quality services in those areas. We do not and will not explore managing a physician network, which would become a competitor to a single user.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR)/Patient Portal:
Q: Include e-prescribing and labs? If so, which vendors do you use/extra fees?
A: e-prescribing is available at an additional cost. At this time labs are not included, but are in our development plan.
Q: Work with Dragon/other speech recognition software?
A: Dragon should function as it would with any form fields. With that said, we do not provide technical support for third party products.
Q: Available as true white label, with no URL directs away from my website? Fees?
A: We will work with you to determine which means of accessing the service makes the most sense for you. Every effort has been made to make SnapMD’s appearance and involvement as small as possible. Setup for the url is part of the initial set up fee and process.
Q: Can the patient request appointment times from my calendar?
A: Yes.
Q: Offer appointment reminders via email/text?
A: Yes.
Q: Can the patient choose which types of alerts they want to opt into/out of?
A: Not at this time. Control over this is planned in future development this year.
Q: Can the patient enter their own allergies and current medications?
A: That is the preferred means of input.
Q: Offer customizable forms and document upload capability?
A: Mid-summer 2014 roll-out.
Q: Offer legal consent forms with e-signature capability?
A: Yes.
Q: Offer live video, text, email or fax functions?
A: Live video is part of the current deliverable.
Practice Management (PM):
Q: Can patients self-pay online via credit card in their patient portal?
A: Yes.
Q: If so, which merchant processor do you use, and what are their fees?
A: We require customers obtain a gateway account from Authorize.net. We refer the customer to Authorize.net for level of fees.
Q: Are the patients provided with an invoice with CPT codes?
A: Patients are provided with a post consultation report containing all data from the consult. We current don’t supply CPT codes in that document, but certainly could make that change if needed.
Q: Can I export my invoices into Quicken?
A: No. Financial transaction for import into an accounting software would be obtained from your banking intuition. Or if you are using a practice management system, that information would be obtained from there.
System:
Q: Is it cloud based and mobile-responsive?
A: Yes.
Q: What format is used to export patient information into another system?
A: CCR/CCM formats.
Q: How often is my information backed up/How many servers do you have?
A: SnapMD maintains a robust data center complete with backup systems. We do not disclose the location or the configuration of these systems for security purposes.
Q: What support will I have/extra fees?
A: Currently normal working hours with expansion of support added as needed. No extra fees.
Pricing:
Q: What is your monthly fee?
A: It is our policy to not share pricing information until a live discussion between SnapMD and an interested healthcare related party has been held. I am not ashamed of our pricing models and prefer to discuss once both parties have decided to move forward, understanding that price is an area that you need to understand.
Q: What is your initial setup/implementation fee?
A: It is our policy to not share pricing information.
Q: Do you require a contract/how long?
A: We prefer 2-3 years.
Q: What is the cost of adding additional physicians at a later date?
A: It is our policy to not share pricing information.
Q: Are there any other fees for any other services/functions that I have not asked about?
A: It is our policy to not share pricing information.
Summary:
Q: Any features currently in development that will be added soon?
A: In the near future, such features include the capability to have HCP-HCP call, without patient present, three-way conference between PCP-Specialist-Patient and a form creator which will allow customized forms to be created by the provider.
Q: Are there any other important features of your system that I haven’t asked about?
A: I believe the simplicity of accessing and using our platform cannot be overstated. Both patients and providers who may be either technology challenged or resistant to this type of healthcare delivery will find our system to be easy to use, which is important for all to encourage the use of this approach and provide you a new means of gaining and retaining a patient population.
