Cibola General Hospital Selects Cerner to Transform its Electronic Health Record
KANSAS CITY – April 17, 2019 – Cibola General Hospital (CGH), a 25-bed critical access health care facility, has selected Cerner to upgrade its Electronic Health Record (EHR) and billing systems across the continuum of care. The health system recently signed a 10-year agreement to use Cerner Millennium®, a health care IT platform designed to support and engage consumers throughout their health care journey.
“In order to meet our patients’ needs and continue to provide exceptional health care, we needed to move to an electronic health record that is more practical, efficient and user-friendly,” said Thomas Whelan, CEO, Cibola General Hospital. “We are confident that using Cerner’s integrated platforms will help support our mission to improve health by providing the best place for patients to receive care, for employees to work, and for physicians to practice medicine.”
Through this agreement, CGH will use Cerner CommunityWorksSM, a cloud-based deployment model tailored to help community health care organizations securely share patient health history, including clinical and financial data, across multiple venues of care. The new Cerner EHR will be used throughout CGH and its large family practice clinic, Cibola Family Health Center.
“CGH is an organization rich with talent across all venues. In making the decision to switch to Cerner, CGH ran through an evaluation process that truly valued the input of several dozen staff members who agreed upon Cerner Millennium to help optimize workflows,” said Mitchell Clark, president, CommunityWorks, Cerner. “We look forward to building a successful long-term relationship with CGH for years to come.”
Additionally, CGH will deploy a full suite of Cerner population health solutions, designed to predict population trends and engage the patient and their care team to take action and manage outcomes to improve health and care. CGH leadership believes the combination of compassionate care and the finest quality systems will greatly benefit the people of northwestern New Mexico.
